I write.
-
One novel and two non-fiction books . . . so far.

-
Oodles of stories for dozens of magazines, beginning at LIFE magazine back when LIFE still mattered, as well as Vanity Fair, Fortune, Travel + Leisure, Sports Illustrated, This Old House, and many more.
I edit & publish.
-
I am the founder, editor & publisher of Skybox Press, the leading custom publisher of official, exceptional quality sports commemorative books.

I keep my priorities straight.
My infinitely better half, Lisa.
We met our first week freshman year at the University of Oregon and have both kept our vows and our senses of humor.

Our daughter and three sons.
Proof that Lisa and I have done at least four things right.

Work.
I abide the words of a wise man who once said, "A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds."

My teams.
Oregon Ducks, San Francisco Giants, Liverpool F.C., Team Sweden.

I do not:
-
Feel compelled to spend time or money creating a fancy web site.
-
Like the designated hitter rule in baseball.
-
Engage in political discourse on social media—that's what pubs are for.

I say:
-
Just working hard is not working smart.
-
The hard thing to do is usually the right thing to do.
-
If it's predictable, it's preventable.

I hope to:
-
Speak fluent Swedish.
-
Learn to play the harmonica.
-
Coach again.
